Club Rules

These rules interpret or supplement the Grand National Archery Society rules (ArcheryGB) and are intended to help archers to shoot safely and without interfering with others.

Archers should familiarise themselves with and follow the ArcheryGB Rules of Shooting, which are available to download from the ArcheryGB website.

Duties of Members
  • Members must accept and abide by the rules of the Club, which include supplementary rules deemed necessary by the Club Committee, and ArcheryGB.
  • Members must promote the best interests of the Club and not act in a way that brings the Club or sport into disrepute.
  • Members should aid in the running of the Club where they can.
Junior Members

All members under the age of 18 years are classed as Junior Members.

  • An adult with legal responsibility MUST always accompany their child/children whilst at Club sessions, at Club Venues or competing at any Tournaments within The Audco Archers.
  • If an adult with legal responsibility is unable to remain with their children, they MUST appoint a named adult who has agreed to take on parental responsibility for that session. This MUST be recorded on the signing-in sheet and MUST be a person named on the Named Adult and Parental Consent section of the Junior Membership form.
  • An adult with legal responsibility must ensure their child/children understands and abides by the Club rules and the ArcheryGB Rules of Shooting.
The Club subscribes to the ArcheryGB policy for “Safeguarding Children and Young People” and will adhere to their policy and guidelines.
Safety & Welfare

Members will:

  • Cooperate on all health and safety matters.
  • Not interfere with anything provided to safeguard health and safety.
  • Take reasonable care of their own and others health and safety.
  • Report health and safety or Child Protection concerns to the appropriate Club officer.

Loose clothing, long hair, jewellery and body piercings must be secured or removed to ensure they do not become entangled with equipment. Footwear that fully encloses the toes and the front of the foot must be worn at all times when shooting.

Social Media

The Club subscribes to the ArcheryGB “Online and Social Media” policy. Members are expected to familiarise themselves with the policy and follow the guidelines when posting content, messages, photographs etc. relating to, or containing information regarding the club and/or its members.

Visitors

Visiting ArcheryGB members may be permitted to shoot on the club targets at the invitation of a shooting club member. The Club member is responsible for entering their guest’s name on the signing in sheet, ensuring payment of visitor’s fees is given to the Club Treasurer and making sure their guest understands and follows the Club rules.

Property and Equipment

Members will use their best efforts to ensure the safety, security and care of all property and equipment. Damaged club equipment must be reported to a committee member.

Membership and Affiliation Fees

Membership and affiliation fees are payable annually from the date of joining. Members who do not renew by their expiry date, or whose ArcheryGB membership lapses, may not shoot at Audco, even if their Audco membership is active. Members are responsible for maintaining any standing orders. If a member leaves the club, standing orders will not be cancelled by the club and no refunds will be given.

Communication to Members

Members are entitled to access the Club’s general communications, attend Club functions and events, and receive such support and assistance as the Club is able to offer. It is the responsibility of members to inform the Membership Secretary promptly of any changes to their contact details.

  • All important Club communications will be sent by email.
  • WhatsApp is the Club’s preferred method for general and day-to-day communications.
  • Under 16s are not permitted to use the Club’s WhatsApp channels.
  • Notice boards, text messages, social media channels and announcements on club nights may be used as a supplement.
  • The Club no longer sends communications by post.
Carbon Arrows

Members are only permitted to shoot full carbon arrows at the club’s outdoor shooting facilities providing the arrows are fitted with both metal points and pin nocks that are fitted into a metal nock collar.

Names on Arrows

All arrows must have the archer’s name written on them. We strongly recommend purpose made arrow stickers/wraps but writing on the shaft with a permanent marker will suffice.

Lost Arrows

All members and visitors must find lost arrows. If you cannot locate your arrow before the end of your shooting session you MUST follow the lost arrow procedure. Information of this procedure is located next to the signing in book.

Site Security
All security procedures for entering and exiting the outdoor site must be followed. Failure to follow our site security procedures could affect your access to the site or even your membership to the club.

These procedures will be shown to you when you join the club and you will be informed of any alterations via email.

Smoking and Vaping
Smoking and vaping is not allowed anywhere onsite — this includes the archery field, all buildings and car parks.
Attendance Record

Members and their guests attending either the Club indoor or outdoor facilities must sign both in and out on the Signing In sheets, copies of which are kept at both indoor and outdoor venues.
