Based in Newport, Shropshire. Audco Archers warmly welcomes all archers, regardless of ability or bow style.
In 1869, William Scott Underhill built a valve factory in Newport that would later become Serck Audco, one of the town’s largest employers. In the early 1960s, three employees asked if they could erect an archery target on an unused part of the company sports field. Management agreed, they mowed a strip of grass, placed a target at one end, and so began Audco Archers.
Initially a closed club for Audco staff, the doors opened to the wider community in 1968. In 2011 the original field was sold for development. After several years at Newport CE Junior School, the club found its permanent home at Strine Brook Farm in 2017, just off the A518 near Mere Park Garden Centre.
With nearly 100 members aged 8 to 80, the club has produced national and international champions. Archery is a sport for the whole family and Audco Archers is a great place to start.
We are actively developing a clear vision for the club’s future, investing in people, equipment and infrastructure. Put 2068 in your diary and see what the next 50 years brings. There’s nothing stopping you becoming part of that history.
